What Is A Water Based Epoxy?
Water based epoxies are used either as a sealer, primer or coating on concrete floors and surfaces. They are an amine-cured and are a two component epoxy coating which highlight the physical details of solvent-epoxies but are applied in a liquid form. Due to the issues of dust and residue forming on unprotected concrete surfaces. They are a fantastic resurfacing option as they are almost entirely odourless and offer great resistance to UV, acids, solvents, chemicals and physical abrasions such as scratches. Furthermore, as water based epoxies finished layers are relatively thin. This enables the epoxies to soak quicker into a surface before curing which allows the formation of a stronger and healthier bond to the concrete. This ultimately results in the epoxy penetrating the concrete’s surface and consolidating its properties under the concrete substrate They are also environmentally sustainable as they have a low VOC (volatile organic compound). What Is A water based polyurethane epoxy?
A polyurethane is a form of water based epoxy and it is what we use, here at BF Spray Pave. It is up to 20 times stronger than standard epoxies. With a polyurethane coating, its resistance to salt, oil, gas and other chemicals makes it one of the strongest floor coatings literally on the planet. It is also extremely easy to maintain and it will last a lifetime as it will still look fantastic for years to come. It is truly is a worthwhile investment!
This epoxy consists of a blended mix of Polyurea, Urethane and Epoxy chemistries. It combines these three chemistries into ONE indestructible, flexible, fast curing and high gloss coating finish bound to turn heads everywhere.
A polyurethane generally has a lot more flexibility than epoxy which makes its surface scratch resistant. It is also a lot better in absorbing impacts and it provides higher abrasion resistance. Manufacturer’s even claim that a polyurethane’s coating in comparison to standard epoxies is 3:1.

Decorative Epoxy Services
There are a multitude of different design combinations that can be applied with epoxies. This enables you to get a completely unique and fully custom look unlike no other! Epoxies can be applied in a number of different ways. These methods include by brush, nap roller or by a highly accurate and detailed textured spray gun (our method). A standard job will generally require two coats. However, for commercial jobs it is recommended that 3 coats are applied due to the harsher strain these environments experience. Water based epoxies should definitely be considered when you are seeking efficient and durable concrete sealing, and have no tolerance for dangerous odours and hazards.
